People with Vegetovascular dystonia and neurotics are very similar in their hypochondriac behavior, and the challenges they face are actually identical: chronic stress, jumps in blood pressure, malfunctions of the nervous system, lack of sleep – this is a very long list. However, there is still a difference between patients, and it is not related to the symptoms, but to the degree of their regularity. It often happens that people suffering from dystonia hang up on some unpleasant condition and get neurosis in addition to Vegetovascular dystonia. Among the neurotics there are, indeed, a lot of people suffering from dystonia. One of the most common symptoms on which such patients are hung up on is a feeling of tension in head.
Once in a while
Tension in head is the problem of many modern, busy people. But, as a rule, only hypochondriac and impressionable persons (and they are neurotics and persons with dystonia) pay close attention to any symptom. As if looking at it from all angles and assessing the degree of danger. Tension in head can be a rare symptom and depend, for example, only on the change of weather. Sometimes this condition is accompanied by neurosis (by the way, when OCD it is extremely rare), and sometimes it becomes even the basis for neurosis. A person cannot distract thoughts from the symptom and becomes its hostage.
Therefore, the tension in the head with Vegetovascular dystonia can always grow into a holistic and all – consuming neurosis if the patient begins to pay special attention to it. Due to the fact that the common fear of people with dystonia is to get brain cancer or stroke, they carefully evaluate everything the head feels.
In general, the loosened nervous system is very vulnerable. Any stimuli can cause irreparable damage to the psyche. If a person lives “on wear and tear”, is regularly exposed to stress and lack of sleep, he may not notice how harmful factors will lead him to neurosis. Therefore, it is necessary to pause to think: why does the head strain? Isn’t it time to slow down?
Tension: what it Is and what Are the Symptoms?
Anxiety, tension in head with neurosis have the same causes and symptoms as with Vegetovascular dystonia. The only difference is that the neurotic tension has permanent nature, while in Vegetovascular dystonia it can manifest itself by attacks with varying frequency.
|Tension in head||Reason||State of health|
|hypoxic||As a result of increased vascular tone (hypertension) or excessive relaxation (hypotension), blood does not flow to the brain.||In addition to tension there can be a slight turbidity of consciousness, restlessness, dizziness, weakness, irritability.|
|vascular||Excessive stress, panic attacks or frequent increase in blood pressure provoke a strong tone of the vessels of the brain. Often the culprit of this condition is increased adrenaline.||Tension in the head can be accompanied by pain, fear, nervousness, a sense of stiffness of the brain, fear that vessels will burst. The patient may also feel pressure in the chest, lack of air, intestinal discomfort.|
|muscular||Ligaments and muscles, located between the skull and scalp overstrain as a result of stress, PAs and jumps in blood pressure.||A person experiences spasms inside the head, which can be accompanied by pain and a feeling of weakness, nervousness. The neck area may also be involved in the process.|
|psychogenic||Nothing is happening inside the head, but the CNS is focused on it – it’s a reflex process. This happens if a person is too fixated on the area of the head and worries about its health (fear of brain tumors, strokes, schizophrenia).||Feelings can be very different: the feeling of a tight helmet on your head, goose bumps, crawling inside the brain, a tightness in temples or the back of the head. Some patients describe psychogenic tension as if someone is screwing a screw directly into the crown, or someone is squeezing the brain with his hands.|
|stressful||If the patient is fixated on the fact of the brain tension, he will constantly pay attention to the head: the result will be chronic stress and a vicious circle. Such tension can appear right after awakening and overtake the person even through a dream.||The patient feels helpless in the face of such a situation, he/she limits a circle of communication (sometimes any conversations and meetings bring tears and discomfort). It is impossible to do business and hobbies normally: all thoughts are focused only on the fact that inside the head there is something unpleasant and unbearable, and nothing can be done about it, it is impossible to distract.|
You should remember that it is useless to fight neuroses and Vegetovascular dystonia with medicines. Sometimes medicines can provide the first aid, but they will not cure the sick soul and will not eliminate the cause of the tense head. A visit to a psychotherapist is not only an expedient step towards recovery, but also a return of hope for salvation and conviction that you are not alone.
