Going crazy might not seem so horrible as falling into a trap of your own mind, while keeping sanity. When you have confusing thoughts in your head, it’s hard to maintain the energy and positive attitude toward life. You just feel helpless and ask yourself: is it the beginning of insanity?
You Need a Rest and Not a Straitjacket
The first thing you should do is stop considering yourself schizophrenic. Yes, the main schizophrenia symptoms are intrusive thoughts, voices, images, insane ideas. They can easily disclose the schizophrenic person. So can you still hide your delirium from other people? And do you understand that voices in your head are not normal? Congratulations! Your mind is in perfect order. But what can be happening to you? Quite often, it can be the following things:
- Neuroticism and OCD;
- Too much stress;
- CNS disorders, that can be treated;
- Mental strain, which takes the form of uncontrollable confusing thoughts in head, especially before sleep (hypnagogic hallucinations);
Together with confusing thoughts you might notice that your sleep gets worse, your attention and memory are failing you, and you get irritated easily. It means that your brain is too tired and needs the rest urgently. People with schizophrenia differ from people with neuroticism, panic attacks and dysautonomia, because they take their inner thoughts seriously and tend to talk to their imaginary companions. They don’t care that people around them are looking at them with great surprise and don’t know what to do. Mentally disturbed people never know that there is something wrong with them. What’s more, they are confident that all their friends and relatives must hear those voices too and see those blurred images, because they are perfectly normal! That’s why you should forget about schizophrenia and pay attention to the wide-spread reasons, that can cause confusion in thoughts in head.
Statistically speaking, about 40% of people have regular hypnagogic hallucinations, which happen right between waking and sleep. Those visions include images (from normal to crazy, unreal), sounds and voices, situations, tactile sensations and smells. The person, falling asleep, hears the sounds around them, for example, sounds of TV or his family talking. Those real sounds adapt to the story of starting dreams the way that the person perceives everything as wholesome.
Note!Many experts point out that a majority of people with hypnagogic hallucinations have chronic stress, neuroticism, CNS disorder of various types. That’s why it’s hard for such people to fall asleep in a normal way. They reach stage 1 or 2 of sleep, while their brain isn’t shut off completely and wakes up from every single impulse.
After waking up such people remember quite well, what they’ve just heard and seen. They’re greatly worried about “abnormality” of their transparent dreams: sounds of TV around were just the voice of a mystical old woman or a horrible animal in their head, and draught in the room seamed touches of some branches or paws. That sleep was just five minutes long, but the whole spectrum of weird images has already rushed through their head, because the perception of time gets broken too. Totally healthy people may frequently have this type of sleep disorder after mental strain or stress. As many medical advisers say, physical activity throughout the day is quite good for sleep and moving from one sleep stage to another.
Confusion in Thoughts Because of OCD
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is much more awful, than any nightmare. OCD is some kind of neuroticism, and it has great power over people who suffer from it. Sometimes they even find it hard to go out of their homes. OCD symptom is an annoying ritual. People with OCD always perform rituals, because they believe that they will die or something awful will happen to them, if they don’t. Those rituals are inspired with their neuroticism. Some can be funny, others are dangerous. Some people convulsively count paving slabs while walking. When they make a mistake, they come back to the starting point and count them once again. Other people feel obliged to touch a car passing, and that’s not funny.
It’s the same story about thoughts, racing in the head. People can repeat one and the same song in their head and it drains them, because they can’t think about anything else, it compromises their work performance. What if they have to use their brain for work? Other people with OCD are frequently haunted with ideas about killing their families. They’re frightened with the result of their inflamed imagination, but they can’t do anything with it. Some people get intrusive sexual ideas instead of murders. Sometimes they have the whole combos of delirium, and they have such a horrible confusion of thoughts in their head, that they’re ready to call for doctor.
Is there any Solution?
Just remember: your fear is food for your neuroticism. The more you’re scared of your confusing thoughts and try to push them away from you, the bigger the problem will become. Experts recommend accepting the problem and telling yourself: “Yes, unfortunately, I have neuroticism and now it’s trying to make me crazy, but I will think about it until I have enough of it”. The fact is it’s very hard to overcome OCD on your own, and many people with it have to ask for help from a therapist. But some brain activities can bring some relief, because it’s impossible to do several various things at the same time. Embroider or draw something, watch any TV-show or listen to sounds outside your room. And here’s the main thing: don’t be scared! You’re not alone. If you have confusion of thoughts in your head, it means that you have some CNS disorder, and you should have a rest!
